Important update on when key Super League game will be played

Huddersfield Giants’ Round One clash with St Helens was postponed as the Saints won the World Club Challenge that weekend against Penrith Panthers.

There was talk it could be rescheduled acknowledging it could be over that weekend as England take on France – next week.

Recently, Ian Watson acknowledged this possibility:

“We’re still waiting to find out whether we’re definitely having that time off. We’ve had no confirmation yet when and where we’re playing St Helens to be fair.

“You wouldn’t think that would be in the international week but we’ve not been told that we are playing, but we’ve also not been told when that game might be.”

However, this week Ian Watson has now confirmed that they won’t be meeting St Helens next week.

He said this week:

“No, that’s definitely not happening I think now. Richard’s been speaking to the RFL about that and I think it will be further down the track.”

Today Huddersfield Giants travel over to Hull FC hoping to inflict the Black and Whites’ eighth consecutive defeat.

They could have Olly Wilson back in the side.

Wilson is one of a number of Giants who has been named in Shaun Wane’s England squad which is perhaps the reason why the game isn’t going to take place next weekend especially with St Helens having eight players named.
