“I am looking forward to the new challenge.” Castleford Tigers announce the signing of Jacob Miller on a three year deal

Castleford Tigers have announced the signing of half back Jacob Miller from Wakefield Trinity on a three year deal.

With the loss of Jake Trueman for 2023 the Tigers had a hole to fill in their halves and they have found the answer in the shape of Miller who has been with Wakefield since 2015 in that time making over 200 appearances and scoring 62 tries.

The former Wakefield captain makes the switch to Castleford after playing a key role in Trinity’s fight to stay in Super League as he guided them to a respectable 10th placed finish.

Speaking about his time in Wakefield, Miller had nothing but good things to say about the club he spent has spent a long period of time representing.

“It was a tough decision because Wakefield has played a big part of my journey over here and I’ve got nothing but good things to say about the place,” Miller said. “It was a great place for me but at the same time I am looking forward to the new challenge.

When Miller first arrived in Super League he joined Hull FC who at the time was coached by current Castleford coach Lee Radford. The pair only spent two years together when Miller was in the junior stages of his career but he is excited about the prospect of working with Radford once more.

“I spent a good year with Radders at Hull FC and got on with him really well, unfortunately it didn’t work out at the time but I am looking forward to linking back up with him again.”

The feeling of excitement about linking up again is also echoed by Castleford coach Lee Radford as he now has the opportunity to work with one of the leagues best half backs at a later stage of his career.

“To get the opportunity to work with him again at this stage in his career, I think he will be great for Castleford Tigers,” Radford said. “He will bring an enormous amount because of his organization and the skill with his kicking game its probably an area that we’ve highlighted that we can be better at.”

Miller will be looking to get Castleford back into the playoffs after they narrowly missed out in the 2022 season after their defeat to Leeds Rhinos in the final game of the season.
