Hull KR star returns to training after surgery

Hull KR have plenty of the best young British players around at present including the likes of Jez Litten and new signing former Huddersfield Giants man Louis Senior.

They also have star halfback Mikey Lewis who has impressed in the last two seasons with some magic moment for the Robins not least in the Hull derby against Hull FC at the Magic Weekend.

However, that day summed up the problems he suffered throughout 2022 as he routinely picked up injuries.

However, after successful surgery, Lewis has returned to training taking on rehab to get back for the 2023 Super League season.

In a statement released by the Robins in the past, they said:

“Hull KR can confirm Mikey Lewis has undergone minor surgery for an ankle issue sustained during the 2022 season.

“The Robins’ maverick halfback sustained a syndesmosis ankle injury in KR’s 30-22 win over Warrington in July. Lewis underwent surgery in late October and is expected to return in time to the team’s warm-weather training camp in Tenerife.

“After helping England Knights to victories over France B and Scotland, the timing of Lewis’ surgery will give the Robins’ star ample time to return to the training field before the 2023 Betfred Super League season.

“Lewis’ ankle surgery was on the opposite ankle to the one injured in the Challenge Cup win over Castleford early in 2022. With 8 tries in 17 appearances during the 2022 season, including an inspired hat-trick over Hull FC at Magic Weekend, Lewis will look to kick on in 2023 as part of Willie Peters’ new era at Hull KR.”
