Hughes a doubt for Wembley after rupturing his testicle

Warrington back-rower Jack Hughes could miss the Challenge Cup final after suffering an eye-watering injury in Saturday’s game against Catalans.

Hughes ruptured his testicle just 20 minutes into the clash at Stade Gilbert Brutus but remarkably played the full 80 minutes.

Warrington Guardian have reported that the England Knights’ captain has remained in a Perpignan hospital receiving treatment until today and will fly back from France this afternoon.

It’s unknown how long the 27-year-old will be sidelined for but with the Wembley showdown against Saints less than three weeks away, there are now doubts about his availability.

Hughes’ injury is thought to be similar to that suffered by former Wire prop Paul Wood in the 2012 Super League Grand Final against Leeds Rhinos.
