French govnernment bans sport until September

The French government have banned all sporting events in the country until September, placing Catalans Dragons and Toulouse at risk.

Prime Minsister Edouard Phillipe has said the 2019/20 sporting season is effectively over. Despite plans to ease the lockdown from 11 May.

Already, the top two tiers of French Football have cancelled their seasons off the back of the news, with professional bodies meeting on Friday to discuss any promotion or relegation and whether or not champions will be named.

This ruling means both the Dragons and Toulouse will not be able to play any home games in their own country until September at the earliest. Not even behind closed doors.

If a solution is found to restart the season, then they may have to relocate to England to complete it.
