Former Hull man ready to make comeback

Former Hull FC playmaker Albert Kelly, who hasn’t played in the NRL since 2014, has been named in the number six jersey against Sydney Roosters on Saturday.

The 30-year-old trained alongside Tyson Gamble in the halves at Red Hill on Tuesday as he prepares to make a return to the NRL after seven seasons.

The Kelly-Gamble pairing will be Brisbane’s fifth different halves combination in 11 games this season as the Broncos languish near the bottom of the table.

Since leaving the Titans in 2014, Kelly has spent six seasons playing in England for Hull KR and Hull FC and joined the Broncos on a train-and-trial deal in the off-season.

“He brings a wealth of experience,” Broncos captain Jake Turpin said of Kelly.

“He’s setting the house on fire in Q-Cup so if Albie comes into the team, we’ve got full confidence that he’ll do the job.”
