Former Heavyweight Champion challenges NRL star to a fight

Former WBA Heavyweight champion Lucas Browne has become involved in the upcoming Barry Hall V Paul Gallen bout, however has now called out one of the participants.

Browne has put the challenge out to now former Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks player Paul Gallen that if he defeats former AFL player Barry Hall he will challenge him to a boxing match.

The boxer has been quoted by Nine’s Wide World of Sports as stating the following:

“Mr. Gallen if you want to fight six three-minute rounds against an actual boxer, I’ll take you on no problems whatsoever.

So get through Hall as you say you will, and I’ll take you on no problems whatsoever.”

This proclamation is very odd, considering in a recent Instagram video Browne revealed that he would not be interested in fighting Gallen.

Here is an excerpt from said Instagram video:

“Now, the reason I’m not fighting Gallen is because Gallen is getting paid 10 times more than I am for fighting someone who isn’t a boxer.”

The 40-year-old is no stranger to taking on ex-rugby league players, previously defeating John Hopoate in a second-round TKO.
