Five Championship stars who deserve a shot at Super League including ex-Leeds Rhinos duo

The Betfred Championship is one of the best yet most underrated competitions not just in rugby league but British sport.

It is not talked about enough and is home to many talented players.

So, here’s five top Championship stars who deserve a move to Super League.

Sam Hallas
Formerly of Leeds Rhinos, Hallas only got four games at Super League level. He has been brilliant for Bradford Bulls and Newcastle Thunder since. A powerful number nine who can play elsewhere in the pack. A powerful attacking weapon, he would be a great signing for any Super League club and is currently on the look out for a side in 2023.

Lachlan Walmsley
A former Wigan Warriors target, he left Whitehaven at the end of 2021 to join Halifax Panthers and has been a try scoring machine for both Whitehaven and the Panthers. He would be a top notch Super League winger.

Joe Keyes
Keyes recently played for Hull KR but didn’t get much of a chance. He dropped down to the Championship in 2022 and was superb. A real organiser, he led Halifax well and was nominated for the Championship Player of the Year. He played well for Ireland in the Rugby League World Cup and NRL star Luke Keary was impressed with what he saw from his Ireland halfback partner.

Ben White
A real ball of energy at Batley Bulldogs. He has seen Luke Hooley get his chance at Super League with Leeds Rhinos but White would also be a great signing for any Super League side.

AJ Wallace
As would young forward AJ Wallace. Recently subject to interest from Castleford Tigers and Hull FC, it seems like only a matter of time until we see Wallace ripping it up in Super League.
