Every loan move ahead of the 2023 Super League season

Loan moves can be smart pieces of business. In 2005 and 2012 Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos used loan signings to help them to Grand Final glory.

Going into 2023, three loan signings have been made by Super League sides.

Which one will have the biggest impact:

Ellis Longstaff: Warrington Wolves – Salford Red Devils
In 2021, Ellis Longstaff burst onto the scene under Steve Price. He stood out but hasn’t had much of a chance under Daryl Powell. He did well on loan at Hull FC last year announcing himself with a match winning display in the derby at the Magic Weekend against Hull KR. Now in 2023, he joins Salford Red Devils on loan in 2023 again looking to impress.

Tee Ritson: Barrow Raiders – St Helens
In a smart bit of business, Super League Champions St Helens have signed Barrow Raiders winger Tee Ritson on loan with an option to buy. This allows him to sample Super League and see if he is ready for it.

Toby King: Warrington Wolves – Wigan Warriors
After being involved in a loan swap deal last year with Jake Wardle as the two swapped with King headed to Huddersfield Giants and Wardle to Warrington, both go to Wigan in 2023. This comes after Huddersfield and Warrington couldn’t settle on a deal. Instead, Wardle joins Wigan permanently as King makes the move on loan.
