England star subject to vile racist abuse on social media

Dom Young is clearly one of the best players England has produced for some time.

Yes he is still a little raw but what we saw from him in the World Cup last year showed his amazing quality which is why there was a bidding war for the young winger from NRL clubs all across Australia at the end of this season.

In the end Sydney Roosters won the race to his signature but for the rest of the 2023 season he will remain with current club Newcastle Knights.

He is still in amazing form but was dropped for one game only to come back and prove a try scoring machine.

This week though Young was involved in a frustrating moment as his hair was pulled by an opponent in an incident that yielded a penalty.

There was widespread debate about the incident with Parramatta Eels players arguing that because Young has long hair which just about touches the collar of his shirt that it is unfair to penalise the tackler.

However, these frustrations have brought a disgusting side out of some fans with some racists Tweets being thrown Young’s way calling Young a “golliewog.”

Such behaviour is absolutely vile and cannot be tolerated.

We have seen the NRL begin an investigation into a fans vile messages towards Jack Wighton after his move to South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Now it is important the NRL take action against the individuals using this minor incident as a reason to throw racist abuse at one of the best young players in the game.

Sadly, the safety social media provides some will make it difficult.
