‘Disappointing how it ended’ – Adrian Morley opens up on his relationship with Marwan Koukash

Adrian Morley was a Salford lad but made his professional debut at Leeds Rhinos where he made a real mark and shortly after moved over to the NRL with Sydney Roosters.

After making a real impression there he returned to Super League in 2007 with the Warrington Wolves winning the Challenge Cup three times, the League Leaders’ Shield twice as well as captaining them in two Grand Finals the latter of which would prove to be his last game for the club in 2013 prior to a move to home town club Marwan Koukash who was splashing the cash in an ultimately ill-fated venture with the club which included signing Morley.

However, it didn’t go the way Morley dreamed as he explained how it was disappointing how it all came to an end on the Out of your League podcast.

“That was the dream. Marwan sold us the dream, he said ‘come and finish your career here and there’ll be a role for you’,” Morley said.

“He said how I was a Salford lad and with the career I had they saw me as an ambassador kind of thing but looking back Salford’s not the type of club that has got the finances to carry someone in that role.

“I’ve got no problems with the club or even with Marwan but it’s just disappointing the way it panned out.”
