Commentator expects star man to miss huge game through suspension

Leading 26-6 in the dying minutes of a do or die clash is always a good place to be and that was true of St Helens.

The Super League and World Champions were easily dodging any notion of a shock result away at Halifax Panthers but their progression to the quarter-finals was sullied by a Morgan Knowles red card.

Knowles was returning from a five match ban for a hip drop tackle on Wigan Warriors prop Mike Cooper and now could face another ban.

That was the view of the Viaplay commentary team as it was said:

“I think he doesn’t play next week that’s for sure.”

That is a blow with the Saints set to take on Leeds Rhinos away in a Grand Final rematch.

Jodie Cunningham was also of that opinion as she added:

“The intent is right, the intent is right. He wants to go and put pressure on the ball player but he gets the contact wrong.

“It is such a shame, he always plays the game on that line of intensity and aggression.

“It is the last thing he would have wanted, and the last thing Paul Wellens would have wanted on his return game after five games on the sidelines and it looks like that could be another ban.”
