Castleford Tigers vs Wigan Warriors: Kick-off time, TV channel and predicted line-ups

There are few things tougher than lifting yourself up for an important league fixture after winning a major trophy, but that is the tough task facing Matt Peet’s Wigan side as they journey to the Jungle.

The Tigers will be looking for a win as their season continues to be up and down leaving them with a strong whiff of play-off rugby tempting them despite their under par performances.

As for Wigan, they’re chasing St Helens and need a win here to keep in touch with the top of the table. So, it’s an important game for both sides.

Kick-off time and TV channel

The game kicks off at 14:00.

TV coverage starts at 13:30 on Channel 4.

Predicted Line-ups

Castleford Tigers
It’s gone under the radar somewhat how many high profile absentees Castleford are currently dealing with at the moment. The absence of Jordan Turner and Jake Mamo leaves the centre spot a touch bare which could see a second-row like Kenny Edwards or Cheyse Blair start there. Bureta Faraimo is back in the mix, could he figure at centre or will he replace Jason Qareqare on the wing? There should also be a return for Liam Watts.

26 Ryan Hampshire
2 Derrel Olpherts
11 Kenny Edwards
17 Mahe Fonua
33 Jason Qaraqare
6 Jake Trueman
31 Gareth O’Brien
15 George Griffin
9 Paul Mcshane
22 Daniel Smith
10 George Lawler
24 Cheyse Blair
13 Joe Westerman
Substitutes
8 Liam Watts
12 Adam Milner
14 Nathan Massey
25 Suaia Matagi

Wigan Warriors
Having won the Challenge Cup a week ago, there’s some understanding of what Wigan’s best side looks like but having lost Thomas Leuluai, Cade Cust and Morgan Smithies there will be changes. Sam Powell, returning from a ban, could take up a spot in the halves alongside Harry Smith. Willie Isa could take Smithies’ spot at 13 whilst Oliver Partington should take the spot on the bench.

23 Jai Field
1 Bevan French
4 Iain Thornley
2 Jake Bibby
5 Liam Marshall
16 Harry Smith
9 Sam Powell
8 Brad Singleton
28 Brad O’Neill
20 Liam Byrne
12 Liam Farrell
13 John Bateman
11 Willie Isa
Substitutes
10 Patrick Mago
15 Kaide Ellis
17 Oliver Partington
19 Ethan Havard

Watched the game today. CAS gave Wigan too much room to play. Were very slow to tackle and move ball around.
