Castleford Tigers set for another signing ahead of 2024

Castleford Tigers have confirmed the club have a new major investor in the shape of Martin Jepson.

The Real Estate giant has invested a seven figure sum into the club and has taken charge of 32% of the club.

The club are very confident that Jepson could have a big impact on the Super League side as we move into some big years due to IMG’s involvement.

“Martin is definitely the right fit for Castleford Tigers and he has the same interests in the club as we do. I’m glad he’s now on board. It means we have another investor which can take the club to a different level. It’s taken some finding but we definitely have the right man for the job.”

“How the shares are now split as follows: Martin, Myself and Janet have a 32% share each, so we have an equal shareholding in the club. That isn’t a re-issue of shares, that’s come from myself and Janet.”

Mark Grattan, Managing Director said “It’s been a pleasure working with Martin to get the deal done over the past 6 months. It’s been no secret that we have been looking for investors and to bring new people into the club. Martin is exactly the kind of person we need to join us and the significant sum he has invested will help us to push the club forward over the coming years.”

But what could Jepson do for the club? Well the focus will be on the stadium with a wait for the club to receive planning permission for their planned redevelopment.

Jepson is clearly focused in upping the club’s IMG score and securing a Super League status but he could also have an immediate impact.

The club were not able to spend the full salary cap for 2024 as confirmed by Head of Recruitment Danny Wilson.

So, with this funding they can now work to make more signings which Wilson has hinted at and they could move for Hull KR forward Luis Johnson who has been training with the club in recent weeks to prepare for the new season without having a club for the new season as of yet.
