Castleford Tigers man has been impressed by these two signings

Callum McLelland may well feel like a new signing at Castleford Tigers in 2023 after missing his first season with the club since leaving Leeds Rhinos recovering from injury.

However, he will have his work cut out for him in finding his way into the side with Danny Richardson still at the club and Gareth Widdop joining from Warrington Wolves and Jacob Miller arriving from Wakefield Trinity.

That said, McLelland has been happy to have the duo at the Jungle enjoying learning from them as he told the club’s Twitter page:

“Really good, I’ve been lucky enough wherever I’ve played in my career to play alongside really experienced halfbacks and these two are another two and they’re always willing to offer a helping hand.”

He is keen to get game time as soon as possible though especially with a friendly against Featherstone Rovers on New Year’s Eve:

“It will be an interesting experience, I am so excited to be able to play if I get chosen or not or if I am able to play or not.

“Growing up, if you’re from Cas you support Cas if you’re from Fev you support Fev. It will be a tasty one.”

He is also open to a loan move to get game time:

“I just want game time now I’ve not played in so long. My body is holding up and my knee feels good. Try and get those building blocks in place and prove myself again in pre-season, or on loan or at Cas. Wherever it may be.”
