Caleb Aekins reveals how “tough” games against Featherstone Rovers last year led to move

Caleb Aekins enjoyed plenty of battles with Featherstone Rovers in 2022.

They and his former club Leigh were both vying for promotion. The Rovers were the only Championship club to defeat Leigh whilst Leigh downed Fev in the 1895 Cup Final.

They did not meet in the Championship Grand Final however but instead Aekins scored a superb try against Batley Bulldogs.

However, he has now made the move to Featherstone and he has explained how those battles last year tempted to Post Office Road:

“Featherstone were an extremely tough and competitive side to go up against last season and I know we will be aiming towards promotion again this year.

“I am excited to get over, meet up with the players and coaches and get stuck into some hard work in preparation for next year.”

Meanwhile, coach Sean Long said:

“Caleb is a well experienced player who has developed his game in a good system at Penrith.

“He has proven himself to be a player of quality in this competition and will add strength to an already accomplished squad.

“We are looking forward to him getting here to link up with the lads and meet the passionate fans.”

Now Aekins will be looking to repeat the magic of last season and guide the Rovers to promotion as he did with Leigh having scored over 20 tries in the 2022 season.
