Ben Cockayne makes shock rugby league comeback

Doncaster RLFC have signed veteran campaigner Ben Cockayne for the rest of the 2021 season.

Cockayne made his name with the Dons in 2005, and in his sole season with the club scored 17 tries in 22 appearances – which led to a move to Hull Kingston Rovers.

He played more than 200 times for the Robins across two spells as well as 56 for Wakefield over a two-year period, before departing for York City Knights in 2018.

The 38-year-old helped the Knights to win the Betfred League One title in his first season, before departing a year later.

He is expected to slot in for the injured Misi Taulapapa.

Doncaster currently sit third in League 1 with six wins in 12 games with a fixture away at Rochdale.
