Agar: “There is a good team in there”

“There is a good team in there,” claims Leeds Rhinos Head Coach Richard Agar.

Leeds were edged 14-13 by the Huddersfield Giants, sinking to five straight defeats in all competitions.

However, Agar lamented on the dire situation he faces with his injury-ravaged squad and believes they will improve.

He said, “The Challenge Cup break will allow other players to return. Not all of them. We still have two guys still suspended that are going to add a lot to our team.

“Luke Gale will be back so we will have one genuine half-back to choose from but we can’t rely on that.

“The overriding feeling is that we had enough to win that game. Mismanagement of ourselves ten minutes after the break did not help us.

“We thought we were in a good position at half-time. I thought we did not look under too much pressure until we had a self-inflicted error and a poor miss on Aidan Sezer but I can’t believe the quality of what came out in the ten minutes of the second half.

“I thought we were really poor from some experienced guys so that is the disappointing part.

“Players coming back will help us and I still think we will be a good team and I think the boys think like that too.

“We just have to keep our calm as I still think there is a good football team in there but at the same time, I think there are some guys who need to be doing better than they are doing at this moment.

“Half of your salary cap missing, the spine issues we have and to play the best rugby is unrealistic but I still think we have been in the game.”
