Agar addresses rumours of a move away

Richard Agar has played down reports that he is heading to Cronulla Sharks, Leeds Live has revealed.

Recent rumours had linked the current Leeds Rhinos boss to the assistant coaching role at the Sharks, with new Cronulla boss and friend Craig Fitzgibbon taking over from 2022.

Speculation had gathered pace in the past few days, especially as Kevin Sinfield’s impending move to rugby union was revealed. But, Agar has disputed the move.

“It’s no secret that myself and Craig are close and I probably speak to him on a weekly basis,” Agar said.

“But when you have to start commenting on every speculative social media post, you’ll never get anything done. I’m not going to start now.”

Leeds currently have three wins from eight games in 2021, including a 60-6 demolition of Castleford in their last fixture.
