Huddersfield Giants ran out 25-4 winners against Hull KR in the Challenge Cup semi-final at Elland Road.
They were fully deserving of a magnificent win, battering Rovers from the first minute and head coach Ian Watson was incredibly proud of his side’s efforts.
“It was outstanding and I’m made up for the club from Ken Davy, Richard Thewlis through to the kitman and those people who have been here for years,” Watson said.
“It’s the first step for us and it’s what we want to achieve consistently – we want to be like St Helens.
“To be able to do that in one and a half years and to get to a major final is a big day for us.
“The effort was outstanding from us – how we train all week is all set up to win games like this, the way we completed well, our defence was phenomenal and we kept them out for over 70 minutes.
“I thought there were outstanding efforts, our middles were outstanding as a whole, but individually I’m going to rap Jermaine McGillvary.
“That was the best game he’s had since I’e been here – that was an England international finish.”
