Warrington Wolves have confirmed that electric full-back Matt Dufty has penned a new deal keeping him at the club until the end of the 2026 season.

Dufty has been one of the best players in Super League so far this season with the Australian racking up six tries and leading the league with a whopping 933 metres in just six games.

That average of over 186 metres per game sets him far beyond fellow flyer Ash Handley of Leeds Rhinos, whilst Dufty also beats out the Leeds man for carries with a league-leading 105 compared to Handley’s 100.

Such impressive form has now been rewarded with Dufty agreeing a two-year deal with Warrington Wolves that will keep him at the Halliwell Jones Stadium until the end of the 2026 season.

Warrington confirmed the news via a club statement: “WARRINGTON WOLVES IS DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT MATT DUFTY HAS SIGNED A NEW CONTRACT EXTENSION KEEPING HIM AT THE CLUB UNTIL THE END OF THE 2026 SEASON.

“Our electric full-back has been in red-hot form in the opening rounds of the season, leading the way in Super League with 11 try contributions by crossing six times and setting up five. He is the competition’s top metre maker with 933m and has made the most tackle busts in with 46.”

His six tries so far take his tally in Primrose and Blue to 25 in 41 and Wire fans can now hope to see another two years of tries and Man of the Match performances following today’s news. The Aussie currently sits second in the Steve Prescott Man of Steel standings, a testament to the impressive start to the season that he has had.

The 28-year-old Australian has always had the spark and ability to flip games on their head but he’s done it plenty of times this current season, racking up a number of Man of the Match performances.

His try from a scrum against Hull KR proved to be the winner and he followed that up with a hattrick against London Broncos on the weekend.

He’s now spoken on wat motivated him to pen a new deal: “I’m excited to extend my stay at the club.

“I’m really enjoying my time here at Warrington and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.

“Sam [Burgess] and Gleese [Martin Gleeson] have been massive for me this year. They get me involved in the game and the way they’ve got us attacking this year has really suited me.

“I think here at Warrington we’ve got some of the best fans in all of sport. They’re passionate and hopefully we can make them proud.

“I’m starting to feel a lot more mature in my rugby league and I’m excited now for the years to come.”

First time head coach Sam Burgess has led Warrington Wolves to four wins from five in Super League and he’s also spoken on the major boost that tying down Dufty does for the club.

Burgess added: “It is great to be able to keep Duff for another two seasons.

“He is an exciting player who has genuine X factor. He is a great bloke away from the game and committed to the team in all aspects.

“We are all excited to see the next chapter of Matt’s career and watch him grow into his role even more over the next few seasons.”
