Wakefield bring in Wigan hooker to ease injury woes

Wigan Warriors

Wakefield Trinity have confirmed the signing of Tom Forber from Wigan Warriors on a two-week loan deal.

Forber, 19, adds depth to the squad at hooker with Liam Hood currently following concussion protocols after leaving the field on Sunday.

The youngster, who made his Super League debut for Wigan in 2022, impressed for the Warriors against Trinity in the Reserves Grand Final.

Forber will train with the squad tomorrow and be in contention for Friday’s game against Hull KR at the Be Well Support Stadium.

Speaking on his move to Trinity, Forber said: “I’m really looking forward to meeting all the boys at training tomorrow and ripping in.

“It’s a step up for me from playing in reserves and being out on loan in the Championship so I’m keen to get stuck in and do what I can for the team.

“I had a taste of Super League last season and that’s made me hungry for more opportunities, so to come here and get some game time is something I’m really excited about.”

Trinity Head Coach, Mark Applegarth, added: “With Liam Hood missing this weekend through concussion, it was important we got some depth in that position.

“Tom is joining us on a short-term loan and will be linking up with the squad at training tomorrow ahead of Friday’s game with Hull KR.

“I was really impressed by Tom when he played in the Reserves Grand Final last year and when he made his Super League debut. I’m looking forward to welcoming him to the club and delighted he’s on board.”
