Two players suspended by the RFL

Salford have been hit with a huge blow ahead of Saturday’s Challenge Cup semi-final.

Both Dan Sarginson and Luke Yates will miss the showdown with Warrington in St Helens after receiving suspensions from the RFL Match Review Panel.

Sarginson has been hit with a two-match penalty notice after his high tackle on Jamie Shaul in Thursday night’s clash with Hull FC.

Luke Yates received a one-match penalty notice for dangerous contact during the same game.

Because suspensions begin from midnight on the night of any hearing, which in this case would mean Tuesday evening, both players are available for tomorrow’s game against Warrington in Super League.

They will however miss the more important Challenge Cup semi-final with the Wolves on Saturday, a result that is likely to frustrate Salford boss Ian Watson.

The Red Devils have until 11am tomorrow (Tuesday) to appeal against the bans.

Match Review Panel sanctions:

Dan Sarginson (Salford) – Grade B High Tackle – 2 Match Penalty Notice

Luke Yates (Salford) – Grade B Dangerous Contact – 1 Match Penalty Notice

Brad Fash (Hull FC) – Grade A Dangerous Contact – 0 Match Penalty Notice

The following player was handed a caution:

Joel Tomkins (Catalans) – Other Contrary Behaviour
