Toronto Wolfpack finally on the bring of stunning comeback after major development

It is not long since Toronto Wolfpack were taking on the likes of Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and Hull FC in the Betfred Super League only for everything to sadly fall apart.

But the Wolfpack are now on the brink of a stunning comeback. It has been an up and down road, even in the last few weeks.

Things have been constantly in flux but now matters appear to have been settled upon and the club are now ready.

They were a real success story in terms of expanding the game and climbed the pyramid to gain promotion in 2019 with a Grand Final win over Featherstone Rovers having suffered heart break in 2018 against London Broncos.

They played Castleford Tigers in their season opener but struggled for wins until they defeated Huddersfield Giants in the Challenge Cup but that would prove to be their last game in the British game as the pandemic and financial issues spelt the end for the club.

They have been striving to return with the NARL but have now made the move to create a competition themselves on the shape of the Toronto Wolfpack Canada Cup.

And now details of this competition and their sensational return have been confirmed with their return originally set for July 8th.

As they prepared for their return they appointed former Canadian international Matt Wyles as their head coach.

But they have postponed their return game due to the resignation of Wyles.

They stated: “It is with mixed emotions that we announce Matt Wyles’ decision to resign as our Head Coach. While we are saddened that Matt will be moving on from the Wolfpack, we wish him the best of luck in all future endeavours.

Wyles himself said: “It is with a heavy heart that I announce my resignation as Head Coach for the Toronto Wolfpack RLFC. I have decided to step down from my position due to personal reasons not related to the team that require my full attention and focus.

“I want to thank the Wolfpack organization for the opportunity to be part of the return of such a great team. I am disappointed after working hard with the organization for the Wolfpack’s return. However, my personal life has to be my priority.

“I am confident that the team will continue to thrive and achieve great things in the future. I will always be a fan of the Wolfpack and will be cheering them on from afar.

“Thank you again for everything.”

However, after this bad news they have backed it up with the announcement of their new playing squad for their return to the sport.

They have now named their new coaches as well including Robing Legault as their new head coach.
