Three potential Super League destinations for Barrow Raiders star Tee Ritson

There is one player’s name that continues to do the rounds in the Championship as being Super League ready. That man is, of course, Barrow Raiders star Tee Ritson who is making quite a name for himself in the second tier of rugby league.

The Thai international winger has scored 66 tries in 70 games for the Cumbrian club and is still only 26, hitting his straps in an expansive style of play adopted by Paul Crarey’s men. Barrow, overall, have been one of the teams of the Championship in 2022, bypassing almost everybody’s predictions for where the Raiders would finish. With that has come a lot of attention with most of it fixed on Ritson.

However, which three Super League clubs – if they do come calling – would be an ideal destination for the winger?

St Helens

Probably the one that makes the most sense – a move to St Helens. With the departure of Regan Grace, St Helens will need to replace him, and, having struggled with multiple injuries along the backline in 2022, Saints definitely need a recruit out wide. Ritson would be a perfect candidate with his electric speed and athleticism filling a huge gap left by Grace. And, he wouldn’t be the most expensive replacement, either.

Castleford Tigers

Castleford have had something of a wing exodus at the end of 2022. James Clare, Derrell Olpherts and Sosaia Feki have all left the Jungle with only Greg Eden, Bureta Faraimo and Jason Qareqare standing by. Ritson would be an ideal name in the mix to push both Eden and Faraimo for a starting place. The Tigers, under Lee Radford, have generally gone for size and power but Ritson would counteract some of that with his natural speed and eye for a gap. He also doesn’t shirk the big work coming out of defence – something which Radford loves to see from his outside backs.

Wigan Warriors

With Bevan French’s future still unresolved, it remains to be seen if Wigan do need another winger heading into the 2023 Super League season. However, if French does go, the Warriors will need someone else out wide. That man could definitely come in the shape of Tee Ritson who would certainly be another fans’ favourite at the DW Stadium. With Jai Field still at Wigan, Ritson would spark up a partnership just like in the French/Field mode – and it could be utterly devastating.
