Three clubs who could sign forward including Super League giants

Salford Red Devils have confirmed the departure of Alex Gerrard after he was left out of their 24-man Super League squad.

No specific reason was given for him the club “parting company” with Gerrard but it leaves him without a club for 2024 so where could he end up in 2024?

We have taken a look at three clubs who could sign Gerrard for the new Super League season. The former Leigh Leopards forward was a great player for Salford in his stint at the club but joins the likes Ken Sio and Joe Burgess as the three players released by the Red Devils.

London Broncos

The London Broncos is perhaps the most obvious destination for the forward. The club have worked hard to assemble an impressive squad ahead of the new Super League season and have added a number of impressive signings.

The Broncos are still looking to add to their squad in 2024 and drafting in someone like Gerrard would be another big boost.

Leeds Rhinos

Bradford Bulls vs Leeds Rhinos

Leeds Rhinos players form a huddle during the Bradford Bulls v Leeds Rhinos pre season friendly match at Odsal Stadium, Bradford, England on the 28 January 2024.

This one might seem from left field but the Rhinos have a few injury problems in the pack. Tom Holroyd, Sam Lisone, Mickael Goudemand and Kieran Hudson all injury doubts for Round One.

Many Leeds fans feel that the pack is where Leeds are somewhat light in the pack but a move for Gerrard could change that and provide some depth.

Wakefield Trinity

Lastly Wakefield Trinity still have a spot in their squad to fill and Daryl Powell has been open about wanting to add a prop to the mix ahead of the new season as he looks to add depth to an already impressive pack.

So, signing someone like Gerrard would be a big boost to their squad ahead of the new Championship season and would provide Super League experience ahead of any potential promotion.
