The Leeds Rhinos star with a point to prove in 2023

The best thing about sport is that it is an ongoing story. Its stars are the characters, the stadiums are the majestic settings that home fairytales and each season acts as a chapter in the most compelling on running drama series man has ever penned.

Every year it seems there are a million stories to light up Super League often driven by the stars of the game.

Whether it is a star player shining as bright as can be, a youngster making a name for himself, a new signing changing the complexion of the league or someone written off in the past who has a point to prove in the new season.

That’s what we’re considering today, those players with a point to prove in 2023 and we’re looking at Leeds Rhinos.

The Rhinos will be quite happy with the way they finished 2022 though they will feel like they didn’t make as good of an account of themselves in the Grand Final as they would have liked.

There is one man who will have plenty to prove in 2023 however.

That is 2022 captain Kruise Leeming. The hooker was Super League’s best number nine in 2021 and was pushing for the England number nine shirt.

However, an injury derailed his hopes in 2022 and he ended the season on the bench behind youngster Jarrod O’Connor.

There has subsequently seen questions raised over whether he will keep the captaincy in 2023.

Thus, he has plenty to prove going into the new season.
