Super League title contenders to collide with bitter rivals in pre-season friendly

Widnes Vikings have announced that they will face Warrington Wolves in their final pre-season fixture ahead of the 2024 season.

The pre-season friendly will take place at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday 26th January, with a kick-off time of 7:30 pm.

On the friendly with Warrington, head coach Allan Coleman said: “It will be very difficult and very physical which will be a really good challenge for us.

“It’s vital as it will be the last test for us before we start our campaign.

“We’re going to be playing against players who may be playing for us a few weeks later, so it’s important to see what they’re capable of and how some of those guys measure up against the players we’ve got.

“I think that is perfect for us before the start of the season.”

Tickets will be sold exclusively for the North Stand at this stage.

Vikings fans will need to select “Widnes supporters unreserved seats” from the ‘pick a category’ drop-down when purchasing.

Warrington themselves issued the following statement: “SAM BURGESS’ FIRST GAME IN CHARGE OF WARRINGTON WOLVES WILL COME AGAINST WIDNES VIKINGS IN A PRE-SEASON FIXTURE AT THE HALLIWELL JONES STADIUM ON FRIDAY 26 JANUARY, 7.30PM.

“Seating will be unreserved in the North stand of the stadium only.

“It was announced last month that the Wire will partner with our Cheshire neighbours on a dual registration agreement this season.

“Tickets are available in-store and online now from £15 for adults, £10 for concessions (65+ and young adult) and £5 for juniors (U16s).”

The game could see the likes of Lachlan Fitzgibbon, Zane Musgrove, Sam Powell and Rodrick Tai make their debuts for the club ahead of the 2024 season.

Furthermore, it could also see the Wolves give a second debut to the returning Brad Dwyer whilst Toby King could feature for the first time since his loan to Wigan Warriors.
