Super League target struggling to find new club after another rejection

Canterbury Bulldogs thought about throwing the outcast Gold Coast halfback Ash Taylor a lifeline for next season, but are now unlikely to make a move for the $1 million-a-season playmaker.

Taylor had been attracting interest from Super League, but most were priced out of his high demands, whilst other NRL clubs are starting to shy away from the Titans man.

In 2019, Taylor spent time away from the game to deal with personal issues as the Titans struggled to make ends meet on the field, which led to another wooden spoon in the Gold Coast’s collection.

Canberra Raiders are still chasing a halfback following the exit of George Williams to Warrington and discussed making a play for Taylor but look set to favour a move for either Mitchell Pearce or Luke Brooks.

Pearce, meanwhile, is being tracked by Super League side Catalans Dragons as a direct replacement for the outgoing James Maloney, who will join French Elite Championship side FC Lezignan next season.
