Super League star returns just two weeks after injury from hip drop tackle

On Sunday Tony Smith’s Hull FC side take on one of his former clubs in the shape of Huddersfield Giants.

Smith’s side are hoping to avoid an eighth consecutive defeat and will be hoping to open up a bigger gap between themselves and Wakefield Trinity at the bottom.

Meanwhile after a difficult start to the season, Huddersfield are looking to generate some momentum.

The team news is now in.

Tony Smith has named his 21-man squad for Sunday’s meeting with Huddersfield Giants which has been moved to a new kick off time because of the government’s alert system.

Smith has made just one change to his 21-man squad.

Australian halfback Jake Clifford is in contention to feature for the first time since picking up an ankle injury on Good Friday. He has replaced young outside back Harvey Barron.

It was believed Clifford would be out longer after a hip drop tackle in the Hull derby from James Batchelor which he was banned for.

Although nearing a return to action, this week’s match comes to soon for Jake Trueman (knee), who still waits to make his Hull FC debut. Tex Hoy (hamstring), Mitieli Vulikijapani (knee) and Jamie Shaul (calf) remain unavailable.

Huddersfield Giants are boosted by the return of Olly Wilson to the side.

Meanwhile, Joe Greenwood and Josh Jones are still absent in the Giants pack whilst Olly Russell, Theo Fages and Ash Golding are all still absent.
