Super League club tipped to sign huge NRL star

It seems that there could be a Super League merry go round of wingers at the end of the 2024 season.

At the epi-centre of this Super League transfer saga is the Catalans Dragons. According to reports, the Dragons are set to lose two of their star wingers at the end of this season.

Tom Johnstone is set to join Wakefield Trinity for 2025 if they are to get promoted at the end of the season and they are overwhelming favourites to do so.

This is according to Rugby League Live and L’Independent whilst Sky Sports have also reported the news whilst the Yorkshire Post Wakefield are set to sign another Catalans star Mike McMeeken.

Meanwhile, according to these same reports Catalans Dragons are set to lose Tom Davies as well.

It was reported that both Hull KR and St Helens were both interested in the former Wigan Warriors winger. That being said, it is reportedly Hull KR set to win this race.

This is a blow for the Saints with Catalans Dragons tipped to sign Tommy Makinson from the St Helens as the merry go round continues.

Meanwhile, the likes of Hull KR wingers Ryan Hall and Joe Burgess are off contract whilst Leeds Rhinos winger David Fusitu’a is also out of contract.

This whole merry go round seems set to leave Catalans Dragons without one winger even if they sign Tommy Makinson from St Helens.

Now the League Scene is reporting that the Dragons could turn to the NRL for a replacement with the likes of Corey Oates and Hayne Perham as potential signings for the Dragons. Signing a star as big as Oates would be particularly impressive.

The French club are having a revamp after a special few years from 2021 through 2023. These years saw the Dragons finish top in 2021 and make Grand Finals in 2021 and 2023 losing both games to St Helens and Wigan Warriors respectively.

They are rebuilding their team after the loses of James Maloney, Mitchell Pearce, Sam Tomkins and Tyrone May.

They have made some big signings already and could be set to make even more for the 2025 season as they look to cement themselves as a top team.
