St Helens star would be in favour of these two big changes to the World Club Challenge

Morgan Knowles and his St Helens teammates are preparing for the World Club Challenge down under against NRL Champions Penrith Panthers on February 18th which will be available to watch on both Sky Sports and Channel 4 the same weekend as Round One of Super League.

However, as IMG prepare to re-imagine rugby league, there has been a lot of talk about what they should and shouldn’t do with the concept.

Knowles, as a star player, is perhaps best placed to shed light on what should be done with this international competition and suggested that it could be expanded:

“Expanding it could be something that would interest a lot of fans, it is a case of how you would do it. It is competing with the NRL and what they want to do.”

When asked, he also believed that moving the World Club Challenge to the end of the season would make a lot of sense:

“Yeah, I understand why that would make a lot of sense, with players leaving and not have the opportunity to play because they are at different teams but it is logistics and how it would affect the international calendar. In theory it makes a lot of sense.

“I have said in the past that I don’t think we do get enough credit but maybe this group will be looked back on and get credit later down the line.

“This is something as a group that we have not done. It would be another thing that would put us up as one of the best teams.”
