St Helens 24-6 Wigan: Player ratings and three major talking points

St Helens beat Wigan 24-6 tonight, but how did the players rate and what were the three major talking points?

1. Wigan are in a serious rut

Adrian Lam spoke about Wigan being in a rut following their loss to Warrington last week, but if this performance against St Helens was to go by, that rut is very much a serious one. The Warriors haven’t won in five games and it’s hard to see where their next two points will come from.

2. Everyone will be hoping the weather gets better

It really wasn’t a high quality game and that was all down to the weather. There were so many errors that it nearly descended into a farce in patches. Summer game and all that?!

3. Wigan need to curb their indiscipline

Wigan had two men sent to the sin-bin and could have had another if referee James Child had sent Harry Smith off for a late shot on Theo Fages just shortly after half-time. Head coach Adrian Lam will have been bitterly disappointed by his players’ loose heads at times.
