2024 is set to be a big year for the sport of rugby league with IMG taking charge of the sport with their gradings set to determine Super League positions at the end of 2024.

But the sport has also agreed a history making deal with Sky Sports. A TV deal worth slightly less than the last one and just over £20 million, the deal sees every Super League game set to be shown by Sky in some capacity in 2024.

Sky are clearly excited to cover the new Super League season including the new season in their sports moments to look forward to in 2024.

They said: “The Super League is back in 2024 for what is bound to be another enthralling season – and for the first time every match will be live on Sky Sports as part of an historic three-year broadcast deal, starting with a blockbuster showdown between bitter cross-city rivals Hull FC and Hull KR on Thursday, February 15.

Wigan Warriors are aiming to defend the title they won in a hard-fought Grand Final at Old Trafford in October, but runners-up Catalans Dragons will again have their sights set on making history as they seek to become the first French side to win the competition.

“All eyes will be on whether rugby league icon Sam Burgess can lead Warrington Wolves on a title charge in his first head coach role, and how emerging force Leigh Leopards will fare, along with the traditional powerhouses like St Helens and Leeds Rhinos. Plus, what can London Broncos do on their return to the big time for the first time since 2019?

“Wigan’s World Club Challenge showdown with Australian kings Penrith Panthers in February will be live on Sky Sports as well, along with the Grand Finals of the Women’s Super League, where York Valkyrie will be aiming to build on their maiden title, and Wheelchair Super League.”

But Serious About Rugby League can confirm that Sky Sports are set to share the rights to the 2024 season with a free to air broadcaster which will be one of BBC and Channel 4.

An agreement is expected very soon between RL Commercial and the new broadcasters who will have rights to about 10 games this year like last.

There is also a need to agree a TV deal with a broadcaster for the Championship and the four Challenge Cup ties that Premier Sports and Viaplay Sports covered over 2022 and 2023.
