Ryan Hall will be back at Leeds Rhinos next season, six years after departing his hometown club with one of the greatest try-scoring records in the club’s history.
Now, as he hunts down Danny McGuire’s all-time Super League try record, the England winger has revealed when he will officially retire from the game.
Part of the reason for his return to Headingley is a guaranteed role in the Rhinos commercial department when he retires, an opportunity Hall said he couldn’t turn down.
And as Leeds officially confirmed his return to the club next season, Hall revealed that the 2025 season would be his last.
“As players we are often told of the importance of planning for life after playing and the opportunity for me to start that next stage of my life at the Rhinos from 2026 onwards is wonderful,” said Hall.
He continued: “I could not wish to start that journey at a better club in the game with the fantastic work that goes on off the field at AMT Headingley.
“I am thankful to the Rhinos board for offering me that opportunity and I will do my best to repay their faith in me.
Hall confirms Leeds Rhinos return and retirement date
It is expected that Hall will break McGuire’s Super League record of 247 tries this season, with the Oulton Raiders junior just three behind on 244.
Though Leeds fans might be hoping he achieves that feat in a Rhinos jersey, it seems almost certain Hall will bag four more tries this campaign for Hull KR.
It’s another incredible milestone for Hall, who is already England’s all-time top try-scorer with 39 four-pointers in 40 games for his country.
But as Hall turns 37 later this year, the risk of injury increases, something we don’t want, but the confirmation of another season gives breathing space and a clear path for Hall to break the Super League record.
Whether Hall does that this season or next, he’s enjoyed an incredible career and when he does hang up the boots at the end of 2025, it’s sure to be an emotional final outing at Headingley for the prolific winger.
