Rob Burrow’s “Super Girl” wife Lindsey hits incredible fundraising milestone

The inaugural Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon took place on Sunday with almost 16,000 people taking part in the event.

Two of those who took part were the Burrows themselves with Rob completing the course with best mate Kevin Sinfield, whilst Lindsey ran the course among the thousands of others.

It all prompted emotional scenes at the finish line with Sinfield carrying his former teammate over the line, and then Lindsey being greeted by their three children.

Since then Rob has tweeted his amazement and admiration of his wife whilst sharing the link to her fundraising efforts.

Aiming for a total of £7,777 in line with Rob’s iconic number she has absolutely smashed that figure by more than ten fold.

At the time of writing the Just Giving fundraiser stands at a whopping £80,106 and is closing in on a incredible £100,000 with the link to donate here.

The former Rhino spoke on the day as a whole as well his amazing wife.

“The whole day was one in a million. I’m going to say my wife is a super girl and I can’t believe how proud I am of Lindsey.”

Lindsey today spoke on her own pride at the feat of finishing and she’s even revealed what’s next for her fundraising efforts.

Appearing as a guest on Channel 4’s ‘Steph’s Packed Lunch’ she explained her emotions, and also Robs’.

“I’m actually feeling surprisingly quite good, I’ve had a bit of a knee injury so I did struggle round but there was no way I wasn’t going to make it to the finish line. I just wanted to make Rob proud and do my little bit.

“Seeing Rob there and seeing the children there at the finish just gave me that last push to make it across the finish line.”

On how the day was for Rob, she added: “I think he’s just overwhelmed by the support. The city of Leeds had really come out and shown their support for Rob, and since it his diagnosis, so just really overwhelming.

“If anyone is thinking of running a marathon sign up for next year’s because it’s just brilliant, and I just loved every minute of it.”

Lindsey herself has even stated that she’s got the bug to run it again.

“I think I’m going to have to do it again to beat my time now. I think I’m going to have to do another one, be a bit faster, but anything that we can do that’s going to raise that awareness and help other people and other families then we’ll do it”.
