RL Rumours: Leeds Rhinos star set for exit, Castleford Tigers hunt new signings and NRL hooker lined up by Super League club

Below is a round-up of all the biggest rumours and gossip from the world of rugby league over the past week.

Leeds star set to leave

There has been much talk in recent weeks about Wests Tigers moving for a Super League half-back. First, the club were linked with 2022 Man of Steel Brodie Croft, and more recently they have shown an interest in Leeds Rhinos’ Aidan Sezer. Reports from down under suggest that Tigers incoming coach Benji Marshall has been given the ‘green light’ to move for the Rhinos star.

Castleford eye up new arrivals

Castleford are gearing up for new recruits. The club have already highlighted their interest in PNG stars Sylvester Namo and Nixon Putt, but now they have been heavily linked with more signings. Cronulla Sharks back Kayal Iro is top of their list, and the club have confirmed an offer has been made to bring him to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle. Elsewhere, the club have been heavily linked with a stunning move for England star George Burgess.

NRL hooker on his way to Headingley?

From a Leeds departure to a Leeds arrival. The Rhinos are heavily linked with a move for former Huddersfield Giants hooker Danny Levi, however they face stern competition from Hull FC. Serious About Rugby League understands that the Headingley outfit have “a high chance” of securing his services next season though. One potential issue though could be Levi’s injury record, with the hooker now out  with a broken jaw.

Huddersfield Giants looking reinforcements

Coming into the season, Huddersfield were tipped as one of the favourites for the Super League title. A whole host of new arrivals, including Jake Connor and Kevin Naiqama, came in and boosted their already exciting squad; however they have not lived up to expectation. Now, head coach Ian Watson has provided an update on the clubs recruitment, saying it is ‘steadier’ than last season, but they have held talks over potential transfers.

Origin star held talks over Super League move

Hull KR have made some great strides in the transfer market this year. Peta Hiku, Oliver Gildart and AJ Wallace have all agreed moves to Craven Park ahead of the 2024 season, and most recently they brought in Brad Schneider. It has now also been revealed they were on the verge of another major signing, in the form of Newcastle Knights and New South Wales star Tyson Frizell. Speaking to the media today before his sides Challenge Cup semi-final, Willie Peters revealed talks had been held with Frizell, and highlighted how close he was to a move to East Yorkshire.

Blake Austin to the NRL?

Blake Austin has dominated the headlines recently. His stellar performances on the pitch have seen him pick up Super League Player of the Month, however off the pitch his contract soap opera continues to surround him. Recently, the Leeds star has been on the JBK show and gave his thoughts on a potential move back home. Austin said: “If an opportunity came up to go home, that would be something I would look at and my kids would push me and force me to look at.” He did also highlight his desire to win a Grand Final or the Challenge Cup with Leeds though.
