Ranking the five best front rows in Super League

The front row is often the backbone of a success side, look at St Helens for example.

But which Super League sides have the best front rows?

Here is our top five.

5. Hull FC
Ligi Sao, Danny Houghton, Chris Satae
Hull FC have two of the biggest and most powerful props in Super League in the shape of Ligi Sao and Chris Satae who can give the Black and Whites a strong start against any side helped on by the best defensive hooker in Super League history.

4. Wigan Warriors
Brad Singleton, Sam Powell, Liam Byrne
Brad Singleton is a two-time Super League Champion and last year added a second Challenge Cup to his name. He is a great starting prop whilst Liam Byrne developed into a top tier prop in 2022 and will kick on in 2023. Sam Powell meanwhile is one of the most underrated players in Super League.

3. Leeds Rhinos
Mikolaj Oledzki, Kruise Leeming, Zane Tetevano
In the shape of Mikolaj Oledzki, Leeds have a member of the 2022 Dream Team and one of the best props in the league. Zane Tetevano meanwhile finished last year strongly and will continue to kick on whilst Kruise Leeming is a dangerous number nine and the 2021 Dream Team hooker.

2. Huddersfield Giants
Chris Hill, Nathan Peats, Oliver Wilson
Nathan Peats is back at Huddersfield replacing Danny Levi and will certainly not weaken a superb front row equipped with one of the best young props in Oliver Wilson and the experienced Chris Hill who was brilliant in the World Cup.

1. St Helens
Alex Walmsley, James Roby, Matty Lees
St Helens’ success has been built on their pack and that will be true again in 2023. They have one of Super League’s all time great props in Alex Walmsley and Matty Lees could soon follow suit based on the way he ended 2022. As for James Roby, he could be considered Super League’s greatest ever player.
