Phil Clarke says crazy number of teams can still win the Grand Final

After Leeds Rhinos stunned Wigan Warriors last Friday with a 40-18 win away despite being down to 12 men for 45 minutes and trailing 14-0 after 30 minutes, Phil Clarke said it had sparked the season into life.

Clarke said that the win showed just how competitive Super League now is.

“I think that second half has kick started the entire season and kicked it into life. Teams have drifted along and all of a sudden we have seen Leeds, in the lower half of the table, they’re capable of doing that?” he said on Sky Sports.

“There are some other results as well. We have never had greater uncertainty. There are maybe two teams at the bottom but I think we should enjoy the uncertainty.”

As he spoke about the uncertainty, he claimed that everyone above Castleford Tigers in the table could still win the competition:

“We have 10 teams who could win. I think it’s marvellous result for the competition.”

This included the out of form Huddersfield Giants:

“You need to keep your head when you are losing games. Huddersfield are losing lots of games but they are a side I think can easily turn things around in the second half of the season and be a team that can get to the Grand Final.”
