When former Wigan Warriors, St Helens and Bradford Bulls man Bryn Hargreaves went missing in early January, there was shock around the rugby league fraternity.
However, there was also great hope that he would be found and reunited with his family whom he had left in the UK after making the permanent move to the USA for a new life.
Searches by the sheriff department in West Virginia where Hargreaves disappeared have come to nothing whilst sightings in Vienna, Austria and Petersburg, West Virginia also proved to be false. The Mountaineer Area Rescue Group has also conducted multiple searches with dogs, with no success.
There have also been claims of foul play with alleged names of those who could be involved handed to authorities whilst a private investigator has also been hired in a bid to find the former prop forward.
His mother Maria Andrews has now spoken to the Wigan club: “I got a phone call about my son, one of his colleagues who worked with him had tried to get hold of him and couldn’t get hold of him.
“So the sheriff department in America sent them round to look at his apartment. He had left the shower running and door unlocked and then we found out he’d gone missing on the 3rd January.
“There is no evidence or anything, the sheriff department have done searches but it’s like he’s just vanished.
“So nearly eight months later we are no wiser as to what has happened. We are having to move on.
“Rugby League Cares paid for me and my son to go to America at the start but now it’s a case of needing more funds.
“There is a lake nearby where Bryn lives and they want to search it but the sheriff won’t fund that.
“We need an attorney and a private investigator because there have been allegations of foul play. We just need help please.”
Former Wigan, @Saints1890 and @BradfordBullsRL player Bryn Hargreaves has been missing in the USA since 3rd January 2022.
His family are hoping the Rugby League community will support them in their quest to find him.
