Leigh Centurions star details horrific injury that will see him miss the important Super League promotion run-in

Leigh Centurions have a star-studded squad in 2022, make no bones about it.

The likes of Edwin Ipape, Blake Ferguson, Lachlan Lam and Nene MacDonald are just some of those stars within Adrian Lam’s squad.

However, one forward that has been seemingly forgotten about is Chris Green.

The former Wakefield Trinity and Hull FC forward has been absent for most of the year after breaking his arm, but several complications have meant that it hasn’t been possible to get back out on the field.

And, now he has confirmed himself that he will be out for the rest of the season.

Green himself posted on Twitter: “Unfortunately my season is over after having to go back for surgery on my arm. Despite all my efforts and persistence to try and get back playing this year I have been fighting a losing battle due to a poorly done operation which has led to my arm not being fully healed.

“I’ve now had this corrected at the LGI successfully today and now aim to be back fully fit in 3 months time ready for next season wherever that may be.

“Gutted is an understatement but I feel I’ve done everything in my power to try and get back out in front of the Leyther fans who have been incredible all year but it just wasn’t meant to be.

“I wish the lads, coaching staff and the fans all the best and hopefully they get the job done and return to SL.”

Though it would have been a struggle for Green to force his way into Lam’s thinking for this season due to the high calibre of player within his squad, the former Hull man would still have been a great asset to have.

Now, it perhaps looks as though Green will be moving on after an ill-fated year on the injury front.
