Leeds Rhinos injury round up from Rohan Smith

Leeds Rhinos fans will be hoping that the situation with Morgan Gannon isn’t serious.

There were concerns around the ground when he was forced off with a what seemed to be a head injury which has been a recurring problem for the young backrowers in recent times.

However, it turns out he felt the force on his shoulder but Rohan Smith is hoping that it isn’t serious.

He said: “Yeah there’s a bit of confusion around that one because Gano said he got a stinger which is what really rocked him there, so you know his shoulder. So we’ll have a look at the video and once we get the various angles and again he’s fine. He felt like it was his shoulder that was hanging off. So I’m not sure the rest of that process at this point, I’ll check it out afterwards.”

Fans were also concerned about the absence of David Fusitu’a, but Smith assured fans he would be fit for Round One: “Fuss trained really well on Thursday and that was kind of a bit of a fitness test for round one. We were arm and arm early in the week about whether we just trained hard this week. But he trained well on Thursday but pulled up a little bit sore. We expect him to be right for round one so we didn’t push it today. But he’s in good spirits and he’ll be ready for round one.”

He also gave an update on Mickael Goudemand: “He had a very mild pec strain, so he’s disappointed he didn’t get to play today.”

He is hopeful that other forwards might play with quite a comical update: “Sam Lisone says he’s strapping his thumb up to play round one just then. So Dr Goudemand said he’ll be fine. Dr Holroyd and Dr Bentley, they’re all trying to rule themselves in at this point, but we’ll see how we go.”
