Leeds Rhinos’ clash with St Helens records amazing peak TV audience

Leeds Rhinos hosted St Helens at Headingley on Friday night in an exciting Grand Final rematch after the two had already collided in a thriller at the Totally Wicked Stadium in Round Three and this one was similar.

An exciting clash and it was reflected in the TV coverage.

Sky Sports’ live coverage of Friday night’s fixture between the two attracted their second biggest peak audience of the season – behind only the Thursday night opener between Warrington and Leeds in February.

And that peak was reached during the breathless 10 minutes of golden point extra time, during which Lewis Dodd snatched a dramatic 13-12 win for the champions – after the teams had been level after 80 minutes.

Sky Sports are set to show six games live this weekend in the Magic Weekend.

The event takes place over two days at St James’ Park and every game will be shown on Sky.

Last week’s viewing figures are a good sign going into the Magic Weekend and hopefully we see more peak figures this weekend.

The Rhinos take on Castleford Tigers whilst St Helens clash with Huddersfield Giants.

The Rhinos’ game takes place on Saturday and Saints’ clash is on Day Two of the event in Newcastle.
