Leeds confirm Handley injury

Leeds Rhinos have confirmed winger Ash Handley will be out for six weeks with a knee injury.

Handley picked up the injury during the Rhinos’ friendly defeat at Huddersfield Giants on Sunday. He had been deputising at fullback after an injury picked up by Jack Walker.

Head Coach Richard Agar hopes his rehab goes well, and he can be back before then.

He said: “It’s really disappointing. Injuries are a part of the game, but you don’t want to pick one up in a trial game.

“It looked a fairly innocuous challenge and the way he collapsed under his leg. It is a disappointing to lose him in a trial game.

“He has been flying in pre-season. He is very motivated with the World Cup at the end of the year.

“He is in very good shape. Fingers crossed we can hit all our targets in rehab, and we get him back early.”
