Keith Senior’s Super League Predictions: Round 6

Huddersfield vs St Helens (Thursday 7.45pm)

I was impressed by the Giants last week and they certainly proved a lot of people wrong in beating Wigan to claim their first win of the season. It has to be said though that Wigan are out of sorts at the moment whereas St Helens are certainly not, winning all five games. They look well balanced this season Saints and they should have too much for Huddersfield.

Hull FC vs Wakefield Trinity (Friday 7.45pm)

Hull blew Leeds away in a 15-minute first half spell last week to emphasise to the rest of the league that they are well and truly back. With the likes of Albert Kelly and a number of other key men returning, Lee Radford will fancy making it four in a row against Wakefield. Trinity were edged out by Hull KR last weekend and I think it could be back-to-back defeats against Hull sides unless they vastly improve.

Leeds Rhinos vs London Broncos (Friday 7.45pm)

This is a must win game for Dave Furner and his Leeds players will be feeling the pressure. It’s almost as if every game is a free hit for the Broncos and Danny Ward will return to Headingley full of confidence having caused some of the ‘big teams’ problems so far. The Rhinos have to start firing sooner or later you feel, could this be the week?

Warrington Wolves vs Wigan Warriors (Friday 7.45pm)

The big game of the weekend sees a repeat of last year’s Grand Final on Friday night but the current champions will be big underdogs. It has been a really poor start by Wigan and Adrian Lam will know they could be on the end of a hammering if they don’t turn up this week. Warrington overcame their blip in France to comfortably beat Castleford and I can’t see anything other than a Wire win in this one.

Hull KR vs Catalans Dragons (Sunday 3pm)

Danny McGuire’s late try sealed a huge win for Rovers on Sunday and that will have restored a lot of confidence after a tough run of games. In one of the strangest Super League results I have seen for a while, Catalans were humiliated at home by Salford and they will have been feeling pretty embarrassed by their performance, especially after such a good win against Warrington. This will be close I think but home advantage should be enough for KR.

Castleford Tigers vs Salford Red Devils (Sunday 3.30pm)

They look good Castleford but you can see they are just lacking in a few positions to really be a dominant force. As mentioned above, their opponents Salford produced a superb display to hammer Catalans on their own pitch, with Jackson Hastings showing why everyone is raving about him. I can’t see them doing it at the Jungle though and Daryl Powell will want to return to winning ways after the defeat against Warrington.
