Keith Senior’s Super League Predictions: Round 4

Salford Red Devils vs St Helens (Thursday 7.45pm)

Salford got a great comeback win at Hull KR and it was the perfect way to respond after the disappointment of the Leeds game. Saints put in a great second half showing to beat the Rhinos last Friday and they arguably have the best forward pack in the league. I can see them steamrolling over Salford in this game with the likes of Alex Walmsley and Luke Thompson in devastating form. I think this will be a comfortable away win.

Castleford Tigers vs Hull KR (Friday 7.45pm)

Daryl Powell’s side continued their perfect start to the season against London and once they got past the first quarter there was only one team going to win it. Jake Trueman has picked up where he left off last season and it has been hard to notice the absence of Luke Gale. Hull KR will be big outsiders, especially after their capitulation in the second half against Salford last week and I think they will struggle in this one too.

Leeds Rhinos vs Wakefield Trinity (Friday 7.45pm)

They may not have won last week, but Leeds performance at St Helens will have given the Rhinos faithful a lot of hope for the rest of the season. In the first half especially they looked back to their best and Konrad Hurrell was unstoppable at times. Wakefield got their first win in a scrappy contest with Catalans and Dave Fifita really stood out. It’s Leeds first game at home in the newly developed stadium and I think they will put on a show for the fans.

Catalans Dragons vs Warrington Wolves (Saturday 5pm)

Steve McNamara will be pleased to get his team back on home soil after another poor away performance last week. They didn’t look great against Wakefield and although they stayed in the contest, ultimately they weren’t good enough. Warrington will be chasing their fourth consecutive win in the South of France after proving too good for Huddersfield in their last outing. This will be close but the Wolves should pull away in the final quarter and get the points.

Huddersfield Giants vs Hull FC (Sunday 3pm)

I think the Giants will be really targeting this game as they look to get off the mark after a very difficult start to the season. The loss of Danny Brough is already evident and they need to pull together otherwise they could be stuck at the bottom for some time. It was a huge win for Lee Radford at Wigan and the new golden point rule definitely plays into Hull’s hands with Marc Sneyd’s ability. They have the monkey off their back now and with Gareth Ellis leading the revival, I think it will be back-to-back wins for the Black and Whites.

London Broncos vs Wigan Warriors (Sunday 3pm)

It’s been tough going for the Broncos since their opening day win and it doesn’t get any easier as they prepare to host the champions. Wigan will be smarting from their golden point loss on Sunday and Adrian Lam will have to rally his troops as they try get over the disappointment of the World Club Challenge. They couldn’t ask for a better game this weekend though and they should overcome London with something to spare.
