Hull KR reportedly set to complete huge Super League transfer

Tom Davies, wearing a red Catalans Dragons quarter-zip, holds the ball pre-match at the Stade Gilbert Brutus.

Hull KR are reportedly set to snap up Catalans Dragons winger Tom Davies.

Davies was initially linked with a move to Hull KR by Hull Daily Mail and then L’Independent in France reported that the Robins were competing with St Helens for his signature.

This comes as the Saints are reportedly set to lose Tommy Makinson to the Dragons themselves. However, according to Jenna Brooks on Sky Sports, it is Hull KR who have won the race to the signature of Tom Davies as part of a transfer merry-go-round which includes Tom Johnstone.

This is a real surprise but a major coup for the Robins. Hull KR year by year seem to be further cementing themselves as title contenders.

Hull KR made some big signings like Davies’ former Wigan Warriors teammate Oliver Gildart. Could they be reunited? Time will tell.

Catalans Dragons confirmed the signing of the former Wigan Warriors winger on a two-year deal back in November 2019 and since then Davies has made it his home with some amazing form.

Before making the switch, he made over 60 appearances for the Warriors since making his debut in 2017, scoring more than 30 tries.

At the time of the move, Davies said: “I’m very excited about getting over to France and meeting up with all the boys, coaches and getting back into training,” he said. “Catalans is a huge club with a massive future and they’re making history with everything they do and that’s something I’m honoured to be a part of.

”I know how much Steve and the squad want to win trophies and that’s what really drew me to the club knowing they had big ambitions. I’m looking forward to a big year in 2020 and helping the team in any way I can.”

Since then, Davies has shaken off the injury woes that plagued his tine at Wigan and become one of the best wingers in the league.

He has played in two Grand Finals and won a League Leaders’ Shield. Across the 2020 and 2021 seasons, no one scored more tries than him combined.

Now it seems he will be looking to have the same impact at Hull KR under Willie Peters.
