Hull KR: Reported huge triple transfer collapses in boost for Robins

Hull KR made some major signings for the 2024 season but over the last few months speculation has arisen over the future of one of their biggest signings.

That was former Super League Grand Finalist and former NRL Grand Final winner Tyrone May who has had a strong start to the season with Hull KR.

But speculation mounted that his stay at Craven Park could end earlier than his contract. This was because his brothers Taylan and Terrell began talking about all three players wanted to play for the same club.

This came as Canterbury Bulldogs were looking at ways to sign all three for 2025 but this move would later fall apart.

There was also speculation that Hull KR themselves could do the unthinkable and try and snap up the two NRL stars to go alongside Tyrone in what would be a major coup.

However, this major triple transfer is no undoubtedly off the table.

Hull KR star’s brother secures his future

This triple move is now off the table, at least for now due to the fact Penrith Panthers have announced that Taylan May has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.

The 22-year-old outside back has committed to the Panthers until at least the end of the 2026 season.

“This club and the Panthers jersey mean a lot to me, and I’m proud to stay here for another couple of years – this place is home,” May said.

“Having grown up in the area, this place means a lot to me and my family, and I’m not only playing for myself but for the whole community.”

A Minchinbury Jets junior who progressed through the club’s pathways system, May has played 25 NRL games for the Panthers and five Tests for Samoa.

Despite receiving interest from other NRL clubs, May saw the value of progressing his career with the Panthers.

“We are thrilled to see Taylan’s commitment to the club for a further two seasons,” Panthers General Manager of Rugby League Shane Elford said.

“It’s great to see another local junior commit his future to the club and we’re looking forward to seeing him continue to thrive in Panthers’ colours.”
