Huddersfield appoint Aidan Sezer as captain

Huddersfield have appointed new signing Aidan Sezer as the club’s captain ahead of the 2020 season.

The 28-year-old arrived in the off-season fresh from leading Canberra Raiders to the 2019 NRL Grand Final, having previously played for Gold Coast Titans.

He takes over the captaincy from former skipper Leroy Cudjoe, who has been limited to just 11 appearances in the past two years due to persistent injury troubles.

“I feel very privileged to have the opportunity to captain the Giants and have the belief from a great bunch of lads and the coaching staff,” Sezer told the Giants’ website. “I feel being a good captain takes selflessness and performance. With these two attributes you can lead effectively.”

Huddersfield head coach Simon Woolford added: “He’s our on field general and that’s what we bought him here for. He’s a leader on and off the field – which is vital when considering your captain.

“I had a good chat with Leroy and he supports the decision.”
