Rob Burrow, along with his friend and former teammate Kevin Sinfield, has been nominated for five awards at the Audio Radio Industry Awards.
Burrow was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in late 2019 but in January 2020, Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls adopted the pre-arranged testimonial for James Jones-Buchanan into a game that raised money for Burrow and his family, with Burrow briefly taking part.
In September 2021, an appeal was launched to build a care centre for MND patients in the Leeds area named the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease. With the help of former Leeds teammate Sinfield, over £5 million had been raised for the treatment centre as of December 2023.
Recently, Burrow started a podcast called Seven, which gives Him a platform to talk about MND and Rugby League. He even brings special guests such as Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand, and Olympic gold medalist Dame Kelly Holmes

Whilst Burrow has earned these award nominations and has previously landed the Helen Rollason Award at Sports Personality of the Year, there have been calls for the former Leeds Rhinos man to be knighted.
He has also been handed honours, including in the King’s Honours’ List this past year but Sir Rob Burrow does sound an awful lot better than Rob Burrow CBE.
Despite that, with his podcast growing in popularity each week, Burrow has been awarded five nominations at the Audio Radio Industry Awards.
The five awards for which Burrow has been nominated are as follows.
– RadioTimes moment of the year (which is the iconic moment where Sinfield and Burrow crossed the finish line at the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon)
– Best New podcast of the year, Seven podcast
– Best new presenter, Seven podcast
– The Impact Award, Seven podcast BBC Radio Leeds
– The Creative Innovation Award, Seven podcasts BBC Radio Leeds
